The Local Ingredient

Olive oil pressed
thirty miles
from this studio.

The Queen Creek Olive Mill sits in the East Valley — a working mill and grove that presses Arizona-grown olives into oil that is genuinely local in a way that matters. Not "sourced from the Southwest" or "regional." Thirty miles. Same valley. Same sun that warms our treatment rooms.

We chose Queen Creek olive oil for Golden Calm because of what it brings to a body oil formula: a polyphenol density that exceeds most imported olive oils, a lighter oxidation profile from minimal travel time, and a silkier skin feel than commodity olive oil. But also because proximity is a form of quality control we believe in. We know where this oil comes from — and how recently it was pressed.

In a world of supply chains that span continents, knowing your ingredient source is thirty miles away isn't a marketing detail. It's a formulation choice that produces a better product.

01
Polyphenol Richness
Fresh, locally pressed olive oil retains significantly higher polyphenol concentrations than oil that has traveled internationally. Oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol — olive's primary antioxidants — degrade rapidly with time, heat, and exposure. Proximity to the press is a genuine quality differentiator, not a marketing claim.
02
Oleic Acid for Skin
Olive oil's dominant fatty acid is oleic acid — a monounsaturated fat that closely matches the skin's own sebum composition. It penetrates deeply, supports the moisture barrier, and delivers fat-soluble nutrients (including vitamin E and squalene) directly into the lipid layers. It is also one of the most deeply moisturizing of any carrier oil used in skin care.
03
Supporting Local Agriculture
The Queen Creek Olive Mill is a working family operation that has cultivated Arizona olive agriculture for two decades. When you purchase Golden Calm, part of what you're supporting is a local farming practice that's regenerative, small-scale, and accountable in a way that global commodity supply chains never are.
Why It Disappears

The science of
instant absorption.

Most body oils feel rich in the bottle and greasy on the skin. Golden Calm doesn't — and that's not accidental. Two specific ingredients handle the formula's texture and absorption behavior: Ethylhexyl Palmitate and Cyclomethicone. Understanding what they do explains why this oil feels different from anything you've applied before.

These are the only synthetic-origin ingredients in this formula — and they're here for a specific reason: no natural ingredient achieves the same instant, weightless absorption. The rest of the formula is wholly natural. These two are precision tools that make the formula's richness accessible rather than burdensome.

Texture Agent · Dry-Down
Ethylhexyl Palmitate
A lightweight ester derived from palmitic acid (found naturally in palm and coconut oil) and 2-ethylhexanol. Its molecular structure creates an exceptionally thin slip layer on the skin surface that completely eliminates the heavy, sticky finish common to rich oil formulas. It gives the product its characteristic "dry oil" feel — the sensation of richness without weight — and significantly speeds the absorption rate of every other carrier oil in the blend. Non-comedogenic rating: 1.
Volatility Agent · Zero Residue
Cyclomethicone
A cyclic silicone that is unique in the cosmetic world: it evaporates completely from the skin within minutes of application, leaving no residue. Its role here is to act as a temporary carrier vehicle — it spreads the oil across the skin surface evenly and rapidly, then disappears. What remains is the full benefit of every natural oil in the formula, delivered uniformly, with zero silicone left behind. The "instantly non-greasy" quality of this melt is entirely Cyclomethicone's contribution.

What happens on skin in the first few minutes after application — broken down by mechanism:

0–10 seconds · Application
Cyclomethicone creates an immediate slip layer — the oil spreads evenly across the skin with minimal drag. Ethylhexyl Palmitate provides the weightless, dry-oil texture sensation as the formula lands.
10–60 seconds · Penetration begins
Jojoba and avocado oil — both structurally similar to skin lipids — begin penetrating the stratum corneum. Olive oil and hemp seed oil follow, delivering their oleic and linoleic acid payload into the lipid matrix.
1–2 minutes · Volatiles depart
Cyclomethicone evaporates completely — taking nothing with it except itself. The essential oils begin to lift slightly in temperature from skin warmth, activating the spearmint-citrus aromatic profile.
2–3 minutes · Full integration
All carrier oils have absorbed. No greasy residue. No shine. Tallow and shea have reinforced the lipid barrier. Vitamin E has formed an antioxidant layer. You can dress immediately.

Eight oils.
Spearmint leads. Citrus follows. Calm settles.

The aromatic profile of Golden Calm opens with a burst of spearmint and sweet orange — bright, fresh, immediately present. As the blend settles into skin warmth, the citrus constellation expands: grapefruit adds effervescence, lemon sharpens, lavender softens. Chamomile and eucalyptus ground everything with herbal depth. The result is a scent that reads as active and alive on application, then transitions into something quieter and more sustaining over time.

Top Notes
Dominant Lead
Spearmint EO
The signature opening. Spearmint's carvone-rich profile is cooler and sweeter than peppermint — fresh without being harsh. It announces the formula the moment the cap opens and lifts immediately on warm skin, setting the entire composition's bright, active character.
Co-Lead · Warm Citrus
Sweet Orange EO
The warm, round citrus note that anchors spearmint into something more golden and inviting. Sweet orange's limonene-dominant profile is uplifting and mood-elevating — it bridges the mint and citrus elements into a cohesive opening act.
Heart Notes
Brightness · Effervescent
Grapefruit EO
The citrus constellation's lighter register — a sparkling, slightly bitter freshness that adds dimension above sweet orange. Nootkatone gives grapefruit its distinct quality and contributes mild energizing effects.
Clarity · Sharp
Lemon EO
Cold-pressed lemon peel adds a clean, sharp brightness that keeps the citrus notes from blending into something flat. It also contributes mild skin-brightening properties and reinforces the formula's overall uplifting sensory quality.
Softening · Floral
Lavender EO
The transition note. Lavender softens the citrus constellation, adding a floral warmth that bridges the bright top notes into the calmer, more herbal base. Its linalool content contributes genuine autonomic calming — measurable, not just perceived.
Base Notes
Depth · Herbal Calm
Chamomile EO
The blend's most calming note — a warm, honey-like herbal depth that settles everything above it into something grounded. Chamomile's bisabolol and chamazulene contribute anti-inflammatory action at the skin level and extend the overall calming aromatic effect into the base.
Foundation · Clearing
Eucalyptus EO
The architectural note of the base. Eucalyptus's 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) creates a clean, open, slightly mentholated quality that complements the spearmint lead without doubling it. It clears the sinuses subtly and reinforces the formula's overall sense of active freshness throughout the wear.
Therapeutic · Penetrating
Camphor EO
The most therapeutically active EO in the blend. Camphor's penetrating, slightly medicinal quality sits behind the other aromatics as a barely-detectable foundation. At skin level, it stimulates local circulation and contributes topical analgesic and decongestant effects — amplifying the formula's body-active character well beyond pure fragrance.

Seventeen ingredients.
Every one intentional.

We disclose every ingredient in this formula. No percentages — our proprietary blend is what makes this product work as well as it does — but every ingredient by name, phase, and function. What's in here is what you see.

Phase A · Skin-Identical Fats
Beef Tallow
The formula's deepest skin-integration ingredient. Tallow's fatty acid profile — oleic, palmitic, stearic — mirrors the human stratum corneum almost exactly, enabling genuine lipid barrier repair rather than surface occlusion. It carries fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in bioavailable form and absorbs without the residue typical of animal fats, particularly in this liquid-format formula where the texture agents keep it weightless.
Phase A · Skin-Identical Fats
Shea Butter
Liquid-dispersed shea contributes its characteristic stearic acid richness and anti-inflammatory triterpenes to the formula in a fully integrated, non-heavy format. Its unsaponifiable fraction — the source of shea's most significant skin benefits — is preserved intact and delivered more effectively in this oil-continuous formula than in a solid butter application.
Phase B · Plant Carrier Oils
Hemp Seed Oil
One of the only plant oils with a near-ideal omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. Hemp's gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is a potent anti-inflammatory fatty acid that targets sebum regulation and reactive skin. It also provides the formula with a natural green-gold color and a slightly nutty, earthy quality that grounds the aromatic profile's base notes.
Phase B · Plant Carrier Oils
Jojoba Oil
Structurally a liquid wax — the closest plant-derived analog to human sebum. Jojoba enhances spreadability, signals the skin to normalize its own oil production, and provides non-comedogenic moisture that works equally well on oily and dry profiles. At this formula's texture profile, jojoba is also the primary slip agent for the natural oil components.
Phase B · Plant Carrier Oils
Olive Oil Local
Queen Creek Olive Mill · Queen Creek, AZ
Pressed thirty miles from our studio. Arizona-grown olives yield oil with elevated polyphenol density, high oleic acid content (~73%), and a freshness profile that globally sourced commodity olive oil rarely achieves. Deeply moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and rich in squalene — a natural emollient that perfectly mirrors the skin's own oil production.
Phase B · Plant Carrier Oils
Avocado Oil
The formula's richest plant emollient. Avocado oil's high sterolins content promotes collagen synthesis and skin regeneration — particularly relevant for mature or sun-damaged skin. It enhances the penetration depth of the surrounding oils and adds a subtle weight to the melt's skin feel without compromising the formula's rapid absorption.
Phase C · Absorption Technology
Ethylhexyl Palmitate
The dry-feel agent. A lightweight ester that creates a slip layer eliminating the heavy finish common to rich oil formulas. It produces the characteristic "dry oil" sensation — richness without tackiness — and significantly accelerates the absorption rate of every carrier oil in the blend. Non-comedogenic, non-irritating, and used with precision to transform texture without compromising the formula's natural base.
Phase C · Absorption Technology
Cyclomethicone
The zero-residue carrier. A volatile cyclic silicone that spreads the formula evenly across the skin surface, then evaporates completely within minutes — leaving nothing behind. Its role is purely mechanical: it delivers the natural oils uniformly and rapidly, then disappears. The instant non-greasy quality of this melt is cyclomethicone's specific contribution.
Phase D · Active Antioxidant
Vitamin E
At a meaningful concentration, tocopherol provides dual-function value: protecting the formula's oils from oxidative degradation during shelf life, and providing direct free-radical protection at the skin surface. With eight EOs and six carrier oils in this formula, Vitamin E's stabilizing role is essential to the product's long-term integrity and performance.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Chamomile EO
Anti-inflammatory base note. Bisabolol and chamazulene contribute meaningful anti-inflammatory and skin-calming action. Chamomile provides the blend's herbal depth and extends its calming aromatic effect into the drydown.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Camphor EO
Circulatory stimulant and topical analgesic. Camphor's penetrating quality enhances local blood flow and contributes a subtle decongestant effect — the most therapeutically active note in the blend at skin level. Used with precision to amplify without dominating.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Eucalyptus EO
1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) provides a clean, opening, mentholated quality that complements spearmint without doubling it. It clears the sensory space and contributes mild antimicrobial activity at the skin surface.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Grapefruit EO
Effervescent citrus heart note. Nootkatone creates grapefruit's distinctive sparkling quality — lighter and more effervescent than sweet orange, brighter than lemon. Contributes mild energizing effects and antioxidant activity.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Lemon EO
Cold-pressed citrus clarity. Lemon's sharp, clean brightness prevents the citrus notes from blending into a single undifferentiated note — it adds definition and edge, plus mild skin-brightening limonene activity.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Sweet Orange EO
The warm co-lead with spearmint. Round, golden, mood-elevating. Sweet orange's limonene-rich profile is the sunshine that makes the spearmint feel celebratory rather than clinical.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Lavender EO
The transitional floral bridge between citrus and herbal base. Linalool contributes documented autonomic calming and sits above chamomile as the blend's floral-herbal connector — the note that transforms the citrus-mint opening into something with genuine depth.
Phase E · Essential Oil Blend
Spearmint EO
The signature lead. Carvone-dominant spearmint is sweeter, cooler, and more complex than peppermint. It announces the formula with immediate presence and defines the product's entire sensory character — the note that makes Golden Calm unmistakably itself from the first application.

On formula transparency: We disclose every ingredient in this formula by name and function. We don't publish individual percentages for proprietary blends — our ratios represent significant formulation work and are what make this product perform the way it does. Every ingredient listed here is in the bottle. Nothing is omitted.

Seventeen ingredients,
zero excuses for dry skin.

Instant Absorption
Cyclomethicone and Ethylhexyl Palmitate transform what would otherwise be a rich, slow-absorbing oil into something that vanishes into skin within 2–3 minutes. No waiting to dress, no transferring onto clothing, no greasy handshake after application.
Deep Moisture Deposit
Six carrier oils working in concert deliver oleic, linoleic, gamma-linolenic, and palmitoleic fatty acids simultaneously. Each penetrates at a different rate and depth — the result is layered, sustained hydration that holds for hours rather than a surface coating that evaporates.
Barrier Integration
Tallow's skin-identical lipids don't just moisturize — they rebuild the intercellular matrix of the stratum corneum. Over consistent daily use, the skin's own moisture-retention capacity improves. This formula makes skin better at being skin, not just temporarily satisfied.
Broad Aromatherapy
Eight essential oils cover the full nervous system spectrum — spearmint and camphor stimulate and clear, citrus oils uplift, lavender bridges to calm, chamomile settles and soothes. The scent experience evolves from energizing to grounded over the wear. It's not one mood; it's a transition through several.
Anti-Inflammatory Stack
Hemp seed's GLA, shea's triterpenes, olive's oleuropein, chamomile's bisabolol, and tallow's natural vitamin D work as a compounding anti-inflammatory system. Reactive, sensitized, or post-sun skin responds particularly well to this formula's combined soothing effect.
Local Provenance
The Queen Creek olive oil in this formula is pressed thirty miles away. That proximity isn't just a story — it translates to higher polyphenol density, lower oxidation, and fresher oil in your product. Supporting local agriculture with your purchase means this supply chain remains viable for the next jar too.

A formula with
no skin type exclusions.

The instant-absorption technology is what makes this formula genuinely cross-skin-type. The richness of the oil base delivers for dry skin; the non-greasy finish makes it comfortable for oily. Hemp seed's sebum-balancing GLA and jojoba's sebum-signaling wax esters mean regular use consistently improves the skin's own regulation regardless of where you're starting.

Dry & Dehydrated
Ideal Match
The full carrier oil depth — six oils at meaningful concentrations — delivers everything dry skin has been depleted of. Apply immediately post-shower while the absorption window is at its widest.
Normal Skin
Ideal Match
Daily use maintains and progressively improves baseline hydration. The spearmint-citrus opening makes morning application a genuinely energizing ritual rather than a chore.
Oily Skin
Great Match
The cyclomethicone ensures zero greasy residue. Hemp seed and jojoba actively improve sebum balance with consistent use. Apply lightly — the formula is concentrated, and a little covers more than you expect.
Sensitive Skin
Great Match
Chamomile, lavender, and olive oil provide multi-level anti-inflammatory support. Note: camphor EO is a moderate sensitizer — patch test on reactive skin before full application, particularly if skin is already inflamed.

Post-shower.
Three minutes. Done.

The formula is designed to be used immediately after showering — while skin is still slightly damp and warm, and the follicles are open from heat. A small amount covers more ground than most oils, and absorption is complete before you finish dressing. Morning application turns into an energizing ritual the spearmint-citrus blend makes you look forward to.

Pat dry, don't rub
After showering, pat — don't rub — dry, leaving skin slightly damp. The residual warmth and surface moisture accelerate the formula's absorption and improve the skin-feel significantly compared to dry application.
Use less than you think
A 10–15 cent sized amount covers one body zone fully. This formula is concentrated — the cyclomethicone spreads it further than you expect. First-time users consistently use too much. Start with less; add only if needed after the first application absorbs.
Work in sweeping strokes
Apply in long strokes from extremities toward the heart. The spearmint and eucalyptus open immediately at skin warmth — take a slow breath as you apply. This is when the aromatic experience is at its peak.
Wait two minutes, then dress
Cyclomethicone evaporates within 2 minutes, leaving no residue on clothing. For total body application, start at the feet and work upward — by the time you've covered the upper body, the lower body is fully absorbed. You can dress immediately after finishing.
Daily use builds cumulative results
The instant absorption makes this practical for daily use in a way heavier butters aren't. Consistent application over 3–4 weeks produces measurable improvement in baseline skin hydration as tallow, olive, and hemp seed oils strengthen the barrier from within.

Exfoliate first.
The melt absorbs deeper.

The barrier-rebuilding work this formula does is most effective on freshly exfoliated skin — where the dead cell layer that slows absorption has been lifted. Use one of our sugar scrubs 2–3x weekly before the body melt, and the difference in how long the hydration holds is immediately noticeable.

The Lavender & Lemon Scrub shares three aromatic notes with Golden Calm (lavender, lemon, and citrus character) — the scent experience carries naturally from scrub through melt in a way that feels intentionally composed.

L&L Scrub
Lavender & Lemon Sugar Scrub
Shares lavender, lemon, and citrus character with Golden Calm. Use this scrub 2–3x weekly before the body melt — the aromatic thread carries from exfoliation through to the melt's drydown.
H·B Scrub
Herbal Bloom Sugar Scrub
The chamomile thread connects directly to Golden Calm's base note. For sensitive-skin days, this chamomile-calendula scrub preps the surface gently and the body melt seals in the calm afterward.
