Cleanse & Care · Multi-Use Botanical Wash
72-Hour Moisture · Hands · Body · Face · Hair
A wash that does something unusual — it leaves skin measurably more hydrated after rinsing than before washing. Grapefruit and ho wood lead an aromatic that is bright without being sweet, botanical without being heavy. Saccharide Isomerate technology delivers moisture that persists for 72 hours. Use it for everything: hands at the sink, body in the shower, face at the basin, hair on washday.
Most cleansers are designed to excel at one use and merely tolerate others. Grapefruit Grove was formulated from the beginning to perform genuinely well across four distinct cleansing contexts — because the same skin is washing hands at the sink, showering at night, caring for its face in the morning, and occasionally on a hair-wash day. The formula's gentle taurate surfactant system, balanced pH, and moisture-active stack make it suitable for all four without compromise in any of them.
Two oils lead this formula clearly. Grapefruit opens the experience — bright, effervescent, immediately present. Ho wood follows as its counterpoint: a soft, rosy-woody warmth that prevents the grapefruit from reading as sharp or tart. Together they create something that feels like a citrus grove at morning — clean, botanical, neither sweet nor medicinal. Chamomile settles the base without becoming detectable as a distinct note.
Most cleanser actives don't survive rinsing. These four were chosen specifically because they deposit onto the skin during the cleansing process and remain active after the water is gone. Together they form a layered hydration system that addresses moisture at different depths and through different mechanisms.
The surfactant system is the foundation of any wash product — it determines whether cleansing leaves skin feeling stripped, tight, and reactive, or clean, balanced, and comfortable. Most inexpensive cleansers use sulfates (SLS, SLES) because they're cheap, effective, and produce abundant foam. They're also among the most documented skin barrier disruptors in cosmetic formulation.
Grapefruit Grove uses a three-part system built around taurate surfactants — a class of anionic surfactants derived from amino acids that are significantly milder than sulfates. They clean effectively at a pH that's compatible with the skin's acid mantle (4.5–5.5), without stripping the lipid barrier that protects the skin between cleansings.
The result is a wash that lathers generously, rinses cleanly, and leaves no residual tightness — the consistent experience that makes people use a product daily rather than rationing it to protect their skin.
Any water-based formula requires preservation — without it, microbial contamination is a genuine safety concern, not just a shelf life issue. The question is whether to use synthetic chemical preservatives (parabens, formaldehyde-releasers, phenoxyethanol) or build a robust, naturalistic preservation system. We chose the latter: two complementary natural-derived preservatives plus a chelating agent that enhances their efficacy.
This approach requires more formulation precision — natural preservation systems work within narrower pH windows and must be validated against a broader spectrum of microorganisms. But the result is a preserved formula that is both effective and genuinely aligned with the skin-first philosophy of the rest of the product range.
No percentages — our formulation ratios are proprietary — but every ingredient by name and function. Nothing hidden behind "fragrance" or "parfum." What you see is what's in the bottle.
On formula transparency: We disclose every ingredient by name and function. Individual percentages are proprietary — our ratios are formulation work we don't publish. But the complete ingredient list is here, fully named. Nothing is hidden.
The taurate surfactant system is mild enough for sensitive skin; the humectant stack is substantial enough for dry skin; the non-comedogenic emollient (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride) keeps it appropriate for oily skin. The formula was designed without skin type exclusions.
Keep a bottle at every sink and in the shower. The 72-hour moisture technology accumulates — the more consistently you use it, the more the hydration benefit compounds over time. One bottle is 8oz, which with pump application lasts most users 4–6 weeks at regular use across all four contexts.
