One Bottle. Four Roles.

The wash you reach for
every time, everywhere.

Most cleansers are designed to excel at one use and merely tolerate others. Grapefruit Grove was formulated from the beginning to perform genuinely well across four distinct cleansing contexts — because the same skin is washing hands at the sink, showering at night, caring for its face in the morning, and occasionally on a hair-wash day. The formula's gentle taurate surfactant system, balanced pH, and moisture-active stack make it suitable for all four without compromise in any of them.

Hand Wash
The daily entry point. Most hand washes strip the skin barrier with every use — hands washed twelve times a day accumulate twelve small insults. The Saccharide Isomerate and Sodium PCA in this formula deposit hydration during each wash, actively counteracting the drying effect of cleansing.
Lather, rinse — no additional moisturizer needed for most skin types with regular use.
Body Wash
In the shower, the Beta-Glucan and Panthenol have more contact time and more surface area to work with. The taurate surfactants remove sebum and debris without stripping the lipid layer — leaving the skin clean without the tight, dry sensation of conventional body washes.
Apply to a loofah or washcloth for maximum lather. Follow with body butter or melt on particularly dry areas.
Face Wash
The formula's pH is carefully balanced for facial skin — and the active stack (Beta-Glucan, Sodium PCA, Panthenol, Aloe Vera) makes this significantly more skin-conditioning than most dedicated facial cleansers. The Cocoa Betaine's conditioning action is particularly beneficial on facial skin, which tends to be more reactive to cleansing.
Use a small amount — the formula is concentrated. Rinse with cool water and follow with your usual facial routine.
Hair & Scalp
The Panthenol (Provitamin B5) and Decyl Glucoside make this genuinely hair-compatible. Panthenol penetrates the hair shaft and improves moisture retention and elasticity. Decyl Glucoside provides mild, non-drying cleansing suited to fine, dry, or sensitive scalps. Best for low-manipulation or clarifying wash days.
Apply to wet hair, massage gently into scalp. Rinse thoroughly. Not a replacement for a dedicated shampoo but excellent for gentle scalp care.

Grapefruit first.
Ho wood underneath.

Two oils lead this formula clearly. Grapefruit opens the experience — bright, effervescent, immediately present. Ho wood follows as its counterpoint: a soft, rosy-woody warmth that prevents the grapefruit from reading as sharp or tart. Together they create something that feels like a citrus grove at morning — clean, botanical, neither sweet nor medicinal. Chamomile settles the base without becoming detectable as a distinct note.

Lead · Bright Opening
Grapefruit EO
Cold-pressed grapefruit peel delivers the formula's dominant aromatic character — a sparkling, slightly tart, effervescent citrus note with exceptional lift. Nootkatone gives grapefruit its unmistakable quality: brighter than sweet orange, more complex than lemon. In a wash product, grapefruit's top note volatility means the aromatic experience is most intense at application and rinse — brief, vivid, and reliably mood-elevating.
On Skin Grapefruit EO contains limonene and other citrus terpenes with mild antioxidant and skin-brightening activity. In a rinse-off formula, topical benefit is modest, but the aromatherapy effect at the olfactory level remains significant even in the seconds of contact time.
Co-Lead · Woody Warmth
Ho Wood EO
Ho wood (Cinnamomum camphora ct. linalool) is steam-distilled from the wood and branches of the camphor tree — rich in linalool, the same compound responsible for lavender's calming character. The result is an oil with a soft, rosy-floral, slightly woody warmth that is often mistaken for rosewood (which is now largely protected). In this formula, ho wood is the grounding force that prevents the grapefruit from becoming too acidic or sharp — it adds dimensional depth that makes the blend feel genuinely botanical rather than synthetic-citrus.
On Skin Ho wood's linalool content provides mild antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity at the skin surface, and shares lavender's documented nervous system calming effects. It makes the wash experience subtly more spa-like than citrus alone would achieve.
Aromatic Character
"A citrus grove at eight in the morning. The air still cool, the fruit catching the first light."
Grapefruit Grove smells the way a well-designed spa smells — effortlessly clean without being clinical, botanical without being heavy, bright without being sweet. The ho wood keeps the grapefruit from reading as a cleaning product; the grapefruit keeps the ho wood from becoming too musky or perfumed. Between them is something that simply smells right.
Foundation · Calming Depth
Chamomile EO
Chamomile's role here is structural rather than assertive — it grounds the grapefruit-ho wood pairing without becoming a detectable third note. Its honey-like warmth extends the blend's character into the base, preventing the aromatic experience from fading abruptly. Bisabolol and chamazulene contribute mild anti-inflammatory action at skin contact — relevant in a formula used daily on hands and face.

A wash that hydrates
while it cleanses.

Most cleanser actives don't survive rinsing. These four were chosen specifically because they deposit onto the skin during the cleansing process and remain active after the water is gone. Together they form a layered hydration system that addresses moisture at different depths and through different mechanisms.

Clinically Validated
72 Hr Moisture
Saccharide Isomerate
The headline active. Saccharide Isomerate is a carbohydrate complex derived from glucose that mimics the skin's own natural moisturizing factor (NMF) — the moisture-binding matrix in the outermost skin layer. Clinical studies show it provides measurably increased skin hydration for up to 72 hours after a single application, even in rinse-off formats. It works by adsorbing to the keratin in the stratum corneum and forming a water-binding reservoir that persists through multiple washes. This is not a humectant that simply attracts water — it's a biomimetic moisture structure that holds it.
Barrier & Immunity
Beta-Glucan
Beta-1,3/1,6-Glucan
A polysaccharide derived from oats or yeast that has two simultaneous functions in this formula. As a humectant, it draws moisture into the skin and holds it — its high molecular weight creates a smooth, film-like coating on the skin surface that reduces TEWL (transepidermal water loss) after rinsing. As an immunomodulator, it activates skin-based immune receptors that improve the skin's resilience to environmental stress. For hands washed multiple times daily, Beta-Glucan's barrier-reinforcing activity is particularly meaningful — it helps maintain the skin's integrity despite the cumulative cleansing effect.
NMF Component
Sodium PCA
Sodium Pyroglutamate
The skin's own natural humectant — PCA (pyrrolidone carboxylic acid) is one of the primary components of the skin's natural moisturizing factor, making up approximately 12% of the NMF by weight. As a topically applied ingredient, Sodium PCA is exceptionally hygroscopic: it draws water from the environment into the skin at a rate significantly higher than glycerin or hyaluronic acid. In this wash formula, it acts as a leave-on humectant that continues to pull moisture into the skin from the air well after rinsing, particularly effective in Arizona's low-humidity environment where skin moisture depletes rapidly after cleansing.
Skin & Hair Active
Panthenol
D-Panthenol · Provitamin B5
The only active in this formula that performs across both skin and hair. As Provitamin B5, panthenol converts to pantothenic acid on the skin surface — supporting epithelial cell proliferation and accelerating the skin barrier's repair cycle after cleansing. On hair, it penetrates the cortex and binds water within the hair shaft, improving moisture retention, reducing breakage, and increasing elasticity. It also has documented anti-inflammatory activity. At therapeutic concentrations, panthenol produces a measurable improvement in skin feel within days of consistent use — a tactile smoothness that persists between wash sessions.
The Cleansing System

Why a gentle surfactant
changes everything.

The surfactant system is the foundation of any wash product — it determines whether cleansing leaves skin feeling stripped, tight, and reactive, or clean, balanced, and comfortable. Most inexpensive cleansers use sulfates (SLS, SLES) because they're cheap, effective, and produce abundant foam. They're also among the most documented skin barrier disruptors in cosmetic formulation.

Grapefruit Grove uses a three-part system built around taurate surfactants — a class of anionic surfactants derived from amino acids that are significantly milder than sulfates. They clean effectively at a pH that's compatible with the skin's acid mantle (4.5–5.5), without stripping the lipid barrier that protects the skin between cleansings.

The result is a wash that lathers generously, rinses cleanly, and leaves no residual tightness — the consistent experience that makes people use a product daily rather than rationing it to protect their skin.

01
Surfactant Blend (Taurate)
Primary Cleanser · Amino Acid–Derived · Anionic
The system's primary cleansing agent. Taurate surfactants (typically sodium methyl cocoyl taurate or similar) are derived from the amino acid taurine and are among the mildest effective anionic surfactants available. They lift sebum, environmental debris, and residue without disrupting the skin's natural acid mantle — and their pH range is inherently compatible with both skin and hair. They produce a fine, creamy lather rather than the voluminous foam of sulfates, which is actually preferable: foam quantity is not a measure of cleansing efficacy.
02
Cocoa Betaine
Amphoteric Co-Surfactant · Conditioning
Derived from cocoa — an amphoteric surfactant that changes its charge behavior based on pH, making it exceptionally gentle across a range of skin types. Cocoa Betaine works with the taurate primary to improve lather quality, reduce irritation potential, and leave a conditioning residue on the skin surface after rinsing. It's the ingredient responsible for the "soft" feel of the lather and the lack of squeaky tightness post-rinse. It also improves the formula's viscosity and contributes mild conditioning benefits to hair.
03
Decyl Glucoside
Non-Ionic Co-Surfactant · Plant-Derived · Ultra-Mild
The system's mildest component — a non-ionic surfactant derived from glucose (plant sugars) and decanol (from coconut). Decyl Glucoside is considered one of the most skin-compatible surfactants available and is rated safe for use on sensitive, atopic, and infant skin. Its role in this system is to moderate the primary taurate's cleansing action, improving mildness without sacrificing efficacy, and to contribute additional lather quality. It's also fully biodegradable and non-toxic to aquatic environments.
The Preservation System

Natural preservation
without compromise.

Any water-based formula requires preservation — without it, microbial contamination is a genuine safety concern, not just a shelf life issue. The question is whether to use synthetic chemical preservatives (parabens, formaldehyde-releasers, phenoxyethanol) or build a robust, naturalistic preservation system. We chose the latter: two complementary natural-derived preservatives plus a chelating agent that enhances their efficacy.

This approach requires more formulation precision — natural preservation systems work within narrower pH windows and must be validated against a broader spectrum of microorganisms. But the result is a preserved formula that is both effective and genuinely aligned with the skin-first philosophy of the rest of the product range.

Natural Preservation · Primary
Radish Root Ferment Filtrate
Leuconostoc / Radish Root Ferment Filtrate
A fermented radish root extract produced through lacto-fermentation — the same biological process used in traditional food preservation. The fermentation produces natural antimicrobial peptides (bacteriocins) and organic acids that inhibit bacterial and fungal growth without synthetic chemical intervention. It's broad-spectrum effective, skin-compatible, and genuinely natural-origin. Derived from the same fermentation science behind kombucha and kimchi.
Natural Preservation · Secondary
NeoDefend
p-Anisic Acid (and) Glyceryl Caprylate
A two-component natural preservation system combining p-Anisic Acid (from anise) with Glyceryl Caprylate (from glycerin and coconut). Together they provide complementary antimicrobial coverage — p-Anisic Acid targets gram-negative bacteria and yeast; Glyceryl Caprylate addresses gram-positive bacteria and mold. The combination fills the spectral gaps that single-agent natural preservatives often leave, providing robust, reliable protection without any synthetic preservative chemistry.
Chelation Agent · System Enhancer
Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate (GLDA)
Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate · Sodium Phytate
A chelating agent that binds trace metal ions in the formula — particularly calcium and magnesium — that would otherwise reduce the effectiveness of the preservative system and accelerate the oxidation of sensitive ingredients. GLDA is the natural-derived alternative to EDTA (a synthetic chelator found in most conventional cosmetics). By neutralizing metals in both the formula and the water supply used in production, it enhances the efficacy of both preservatives by 20–30%, allowing them to perform robustly at lower use levels.

Twenty ingredients.
Every one disclosed.

No percentages — our formulation ratios are proprietary — but every ingredient by name and function. Nothing hidden behind "fragrance" or "parfum." What you see is what's in the bottle.

Phase A · Water Base
Distilled Water
The formula's continuous phase. Distilled water is used rather than tap water to eliminate dissolved minerals that would interfere with the preservative system's efficacy and accelerate ingredient degradation.
Phase A · Water Base
Aloe Vera Juice
Not water — a functional ingredient. Aloe vera juice contributes acemannan polysaccharides with documented anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. It also provides additional humectancy and creates a more skin-conditioning water phase than distilled water alone.
Phase A · Thickener
Hydroxyethyl Cellulose
A plant-derived cellulose polymer that gives the wash its viscosity and smooth, gel-like texture. It creates stable, pourable consistency without synthetic thickeners, and contributes a light conditioning film to the skin surface.
Phase A · Humectant
Vegetable Glycerin
A foundational humectant derived from plant oils. Glycerin draws moisture from the environment into the skin and holds it — providing immediate softening during washing and contributing to the formula's non-drying rinse experience. Also improves the lather quality of the surfactant system.
Phase B · Actives
Panthenol (Provitamin B5)
Converts to pantothenic acid on the skin, accelerating barrier repair and promoting cell turnover. Penetrates hair shaft to improve moisture retention and elasticity. Anti-inflammatory. The formula's dual skin-and-hair active.
Phase B · Actives
Sodium PCA
A natural component of the skin's own NMF — exceptionally hygroscopic, drawing moisture from the environment long after rinsing. Particularly valuable in Arizona's low-humidity climate where skin moisture depletes rapidly after cleansing.
Phase B · Actives
Beta-Glucan
Polysaccharide humectant and barrier reinforcer derived from oats. Forms a moisture-retaining film, reduces TEWL, and activates skin immune receptors that improve resilience to environmental stress. Essential for hands washed repeatedly throughout the day.
Phase B · Actives
72 Hr Moisture
Saccharide Isomerate — the headline active. Biomimetic NMF component that adsorbs onto keratin in the stratum corneum, forming a water-binding reservoir that persists for up to 72 hours across multiple washes. Clinically validated in rinse-off formats.
Phase C · Surfactant System
Surfactant Blend (Taurate)
Amino acid–derived primary cleanser. Mild, pH-compatible with skin's acid mantle, effective without disrupting the lipid barrier. The gentle backbone of the cleansing system — produces a fine, creamy lather without sulfate-related irritation.
Phase C · Surfactant System
Cocoa Betaine
Amphoteric co-surfactant from cocoa. Improves lather quality, reduces irritation potential, and deposits a conditioning film on skin and hair after rinsing. Responsible for the soft, non-stripping feel of this wash.
Phase C · Surfactant System
Decyl Glucoside
Ultra-mild non-ionic co-surfactant derived from glucose and coconut. Moderates the primary cleanser, contributes lather, and is safe for sensitive, atopic, and infant skin. Fully biodegradable.
Phase C · Emollient
Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride
A lightweight, non-greasy emollient derived from coconut oil. Contributes skin feel and enhances the conditioning quality of the rinse experience. Improves the spreadability of the formula and prevents the surfactants from creating any tightness sensation.
Phase C · Emulsifier
Polysorbate 20
A mild non-ionic emulsifier derived from sorbitol and lauric acid. Its role here is to evenly disperse the essential oils throughout the water-based formula, preventing separation and ensuring consistent scent delivery in every pump. Also contributes a slight conditioning quality to the skin feel.
Phase D · Natural Preservation
Radish Root Ferment Filtrate
Lacto-fermented radish root producing natural antimicrobial peptides. Broad-spectrum, genuinely natural-origin preservation without synthetic preservative chemistry. Works synergistically with NeoDefend for complete microbial coverage.
Phase D · Natural Preservation
NeoDefend
p-Anisic Acid + Glyceryl Caprylate — complementary natural preservation targeting gram-negative bacteria, yeast (p-Anisic Acid) and gram-positive bacteria, mold (Glyceryl Caprylate). Together with Radish Root, covers the full microbial spectrum naturally.
Phase D · Chelation
Tetrasodium GLDA
Natural-derived chelating agent that binds trace metal ions, enhancing preservative efficacy by 20–30% and protecting sensitive ingredients from metal-catalyzed oxidation. The natural alternative to synthetic EDTA found in conventional cleansers.
Phase E · Essential Oils
Ho Wood EO
Cinnamomum camphora ct. linalool — rich in linalool, the compound responsible for lavender's calming character. Provides the blend's soft, rosy-woody grounding note and mild antimicrobial activity. The aromatic counterweight to grapefruit's brightness.
Phase E · Essential Oils
Grapefruit EO
Cold-pressed peel — the dominant aromatic lead. Nootkatone and limonene deliver the formula's characteristic sparkling citrus character. Mood-elevating, antioxidant-active, and unmistakably the first note that registers on application.
Phase E · Essential Oils
Chamomile EO
Foundation aromatic note — grounding without asserting itself as a distinct scent. Bisabolol and chamazulene contribute anti-inflammatory activity at the skin surface. Provides the honey-warm base that keeps the grapefruit-ho wood pairing from reading as sharp.
Phase F · pH Adjustment
Citric Acid
The formula's pH adjuster — used to bring the finished product to the optimal pH range (4.5–5.5) for both skin compatibility and preservative system efficacy. Derived from citrus fermentation. Not an active ingredient but an essential formulation tool without which the preservation system and skin compatibility would both be compromised.

On formula transparency: We disclose every ingredient by name and function. Individual percentages are proprietary — our ratios are formulation work we don't publish. But the complete ingredient list is here, fully named. Nothing is hidden.

Cleansing that adds
more than it takes away.

72-Hour Hydration
Saccharide Isomerate technology deposits a biomimetic moisture structure onto skin that persists for up to 72 hours — surviving multiple subsequent washes. This is measurable, clinically validated hydration that accumulates with daily use rather than depleting.
Barrier Preservation
The taurate surfactant system cleans at a pH compatible with the skin's acid mantle — the slightly acidic protective layer that most cleansers disrupt. Beta-Glucan reinforces the barrier post-rinse. Frequent washing doesn't accumulate damage the way it does with sulfate-based cleansers.
Skin & Hair Dual Action
Panthenol (Provitamin B5) is the only active that performs substantively on both skin and hair. It penetrates the hair shaft to improve moisture and elasticity while simultaneously supporting skin barrier repair. One formula, genuinely effective across uses.
Aromatherapy Activation
The grapefruit and ho wood aromatic profile activates immediately on wet skin — the brief contact time of hand-washing is enough for the olfactory effect to register and influence mood. Repeated throughout the day, this becomes a reliable micro-moment of sensory reset.
Anti-Inflammatory Stack
Aloe vera, Beta-Glucan, chamomile EO, and ho wood's linalool compound a multi-pathway anti-inflammatory response. For hands that wash frequently, or facial skin that is prone to reactive redness, this active stack helps each cleanse leave the skin calmer than it found it.
Simplification Without Sacrifice
One bottle replacing four — but not compromising for any of them. The formula is genuinely pH-balanced for face and hair; genuinely nourishing for hands; genuinely effective as a body wash. The multi-use claim is supported by formulation choices, not just marketing language.

Designed for
every skin at every sink.

The taurate surfactant system is mild enough for sensitive skin; the humectant stack is substantial enough for dry skin; the non-comedogenic emollient (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride) keeps it appropriate for oily skin. The formula was designed without skin type exclusions.

Dry & Sensitive
Ideal Match
The surfactant system won't strip; the active stack actively replaces moisture. Ideal for hand-washing twelve times a day without accumulating dryness — the use case this formula was built around.
Normal Skin
Ideal Match
Daily use across all four contexts — hands, body, face, hair — maintains balance. The 72-hour moisture technology accumulates with consistent use, producing measurable improvement in baseline hydration over weeks.
Oily Skin
Great Match
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is non-comedogenic. The taurate surfactants clean effectively without triggering compensatory sebum overproduction the way harsh cleansers do. The formula stays balanced on oily-prone skin.
Reactive / Atopic
Great Match
Decyl Glucoside is safe for atopic skin. The anti-inflammatory active stack — aloe, Beta-Glucan, chamomile, ho wood — provides active calming alongside cleansing. Patch test on severely reactive skin before full facial use.
Grapefruit Grove Botanical Wash 8 oz · AZS

Every sink.
Every shower.
One bottle.

Keep a bottle at every sink and in the shower. The 72-hour moisture technology accumulates — the more consistently you use it, the more the hydration benefit compounds over time. One bottle is 8oz, which with pump application lasts most users 4–6 weeks at regular use across all four contexts.

Hand wash: 1 pump, 20 seconds
One pump is sufficient. Lather with warm water for at least 20 seconds — the contact time allows the actives to deposit. Rinse fully. No moisturizer needed for most skin types with consistent use.
Body wash: 2–3 pumps, loofah or hand
Apply to a loofah or directly to wet skin. The taurate lather is light but effective — don't compare to sulfate foam volume. Rinse thoroughly. Follow with body butter or melt on very dry areas for maximum moisture stacking.
Face wash: 1 small pump, cool rinse
Use a small amount — less than a hand wash. Massage gently onto wet skin for 30–60 seconds. Rinse with cool to lukewarm water. Follow with your usual moisturizer, serum, or oil. Does not disrupt SPF applied after.
Hair wash: 2–3 pumps, scalp focus
Apply to wet scalp, massage gently for 1–2 minutes, then distribute through lengths. Rinse thoroughly. Best for clarifying or gentle scalp-care wash days — not a replacement for a dedicated shampoo for heavy product buildup. Follow with conditioner on lengths.
Let it compound
The Saccharide Isomerate benefit is cumulative. The first use delivers baseline hydration; consistent daily use builds a deposited moisture layer that measurably improves skin condition over weeks. The formula works best when used every day rather than reserved for special occasions.
